We are currently seeking a User Experience Engineer who will participate in the full life cycle of software development supporting the functionality and mission of ARIN. This includes research, design, development, testing, debugging, maintenance and documentation. The functionality of ARIN includes domain name services, public key certificate services, registration software, billing/accounting solutions, customer record management, data research and analysis, web based systems including REST, electronic publication of ARIN data and any future technical growth and implementations at ARIN.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with software developers, test engineers, project managers, product owners and other ARIN staff to develop requirements in the form of documentation, wire frames, and HTML/CSS mockups for the design of software systems contributing to a good user experience for ARIN’s user community.
- Participate in requirements gathering process. Produce, contribute to and/or review project specifications, design documents, flowcharts and diagrams. Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Consult with customers concerning requirements, enhancements and operation of systems.
- Collaborate with and advise software developers, test engineers, project managers, product owners and other ARIN staff during the development of software with respect to user experience design and best practices.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Follow configuration management practices of ARIN including source control, coding standards and release packaging.
- Research, recommend and make changes to improve systems with respect to user experience.
- Organize, facilitate and conduct user testing of ARIN’s systems, and summarize and report findings of these tests to software developers, test engineers, project managers, product owners and other ARIN staff.
- Instruct software developers, test engineers, project managers, product owners and other ARIN staff on best practices for design of user interfaces and business practices that would enhance the experience of ARIN’s user community.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Ability to travel to various locations to attend industry related conferences.
